About rosamaria sbiroli
I work within representation and abstraction. I’m trying to find equilibrium within contrapositions; within the materials of the art making and the abstract and digital conceptualization of the piece of art, within geometries and free gestures, within prospective and two dimensional, within chromatics, within rigorous composition and decentralization of the elements, within classic and crafty techniques. My work accentuates and studies these contrapositions. My pieces are mostly made of abstract landscapes where the human element isn’t represented. This is a precise artistic choice because I believe that the delicate equilibriums that I’m trying to achieve and communicate would be strongly sidetracked by the human presence. I like to do and show the physical work, the imperfection in the repetition, the uniqueness of the gesture. This is why I mostly use freehand techniques and often use encaustic. My pieces propose a research on ourselves outside the classical rules of the natural perception: what would happen if we where to be taken in another place not defined and not definable? Without certainties of form, space and time, what other certainties would we be left with?
