About Jean Alexander Frater
Located between drawing and painting, writing and performance, description and pattern; my work is about the toggling between forms, materials, and language, through the process of building up and filling between representation and abstraction. I am interested in the boundaries of our body and perception. Instead of indulging in the failure of communication, or what is lost in translation, I try to think about the mechanics of perception and shift how something is seen into a new mode of looking, and play with the language of looking, as well as language itself.
