My work is a visual/rhythmic fusion between reality and imagination. It is a mental playground for our brain’s subconscious processes, a space where possibilities and potentials for the future can arise and an exploration into our spectrum of consciousness. The images I create stem from real life experiences mixed with the subjects of Science, Art and Psychology.
My genre of painting is in close proximity to artists such as Steven Campbell, Peter Doig and Paula Rego. It is a figurative/narrative approach, a rich blend of Expressionism, Surrealism and Pop Art with a strong influence from the world of Animation.
I work in a series of approximately a dozen paintings at a time with either oil or acrylic on canvas. I paint in a bright, bold, loose and colourful style, with as little reference as possible and with a serious sense of fun! This method gives me the freedom to express myself at the speed I enjoy and the time to alter my initial ideas into more dynamic and meaningful images.
