Claire Desjardins comes from a long line of artists and grew up in Montreal (Canada). She worked for many years as a graphic designer and was ensconced in a life of technology and marketing. In 2011, she gave up the regular pay cheque to pursue her love of painting.
Claire received two grants to attend artist residencies at the Vermont Studio Center in 2011 and 2013. She travelled to southeastern China, also on a grant, to attend the Da Wang Culture Highland artist residency, in the fall of 2013. She is represented by Galerie Lydia Monaro (Montreal, QC), Muse Gallery (Toronto, ON), Wall Space Gallery (Ottawa), Sozo Gallery (Charlotte, NC), and has been a top-selling artist on Saatchi Art for the past couple of years; she was interviewed by Saatchi Art for their magazine in August 2012, and her work is regularly featured in their collections. U.S. retail chain, Urban Outfitters, sells her original artwork under their Anthropologie banner, online as well as in their New York, Chicago, and Montreal stores. They reproduce her work on merchandise, such as bags, rugs, bedding and accessories, and sell it under the Claire Desjardins signature label.
Claire signed an agreement with Warner Brothers, who used her art in their feature film, "Winter's Tale" (released in February, 2014).
Her work can be found in both private and corporate collections around the world.
