About The Artwork
Apart from the influences of modern and contemporary art, surrealism, and animation, Chris Leathers work strives for an interaction with the concepts of "Consciousness and Reality" and tries to explore these through abstraction. His work is a dialog with the process of painting and drawing, and with various theory related mass consciousness and reality. He and his wife named their first daughter Maya, which he describes as "The things of illusion through which infinity is grasped". And it is the idea of an infinite subconscious boiling dream-scape which lays unseen beneath reality, giving birth to all things, and all ideas, which drives the philosophy of his work.
