-OPIA -opia centres on the role of object representation. It is concerned with the relationship between object and thought. It's interesting because whether we are aware of it or not, thoughts are quite dependent on objects. They help formulate them. The first thoughts of man were wordless, and it was object-forms that occupied thought. Through word and linguistic development, we find now that thoughts are multi structured; partial visual, partial linguistic. Evolving in accordance with this, we find when viewing external objects too, that words are always on hand ready to interact with the world. As a visual investigation, -opia considers observation, perception, representation as being a relationship between words and objects: an open exchange. The works in -opia are usually unfinished and consider the imperfections as referential to this visual condition.
