The 'Turing Blitz' is an addendum to my Alan Turing Series of Commemorative Portraits. This artwork is released as a 30x30 inch Edition of only 6 Part of this series ('Turing Code') was chosen as part of the Saatchi Art Collection: 'Eye Candy: Works Inspired by Op Art' Collection on Saatchi Art's homepage. A Surreal Pop, New Media Collage of equations, binary code, fibonacci numbers and pattern formations based on his experimental work on the Chemical Basis of Morphogenesis plus notes from Alan Turing's life Turing was prosecuted for homosexuality in 1952, when such acts were still criminalised in the UK. He accepted treatment with oestrogen injections (chemical castration) as an alternative to prison. Turing died in 1954, 16 days before his 42nd birthday, from cyanide poisoning. An inquest determined his death a suicide; his mother and some others believed it was accidental. On 10 September 2009, following an Internet campaign, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown made an official public apology on behalf of the British government for "the appalling way he was treated." The Queen granted him a posthumous pardon on 24 December 2013. 'The Imitation Game' is a 2014 film starring Benedict Cumberbatch, based on the biography of Alan Turing: The Enigma by Andrew Hodges.
