Stand back and see, stand up and read; absorb a message, take in a thought and hum a song, speak the spoken, echo to the point of stepping back and getting what you need from each piece. "It's the distance in-between two objects which draws my focus" Dean Jones The performance relationship of the soundscape is controlled by the host-the narrator Dean Jones; the vessels (musicians) carrying the dialogue, are unknown to each other and introduced to the conversation; keeping the improvised sound absolute. The words are a sign; a command. To be seen to be heard; a tautology to the visual dialect; a brand name or title to the rhythm of existence; the cacophony of communication akin to driving down a highway full of neon billboards of suggestion. Searching for the message in the social forum; a collage of wants and needs; the musical personalities on a journey of an unknown entity with only a beginning and an end as surety bookends in this one night only meeting and discovery; a forum of sound to debate and collaborate and at times coexist with the host-words-identity, to discover without shackles of a predetermined sphere; allowing an environment of total piety toward discord to engage on a platform without prejudice to the character; pure freedom for space to find its place and develop a real time sense of community, staged within the governance of the visual artwork. The "One Night Only" performances represent communication in the local environment and the automatic dialogue of now! Music specifically Rock and Roll was the first global movement; uniting the world with one voice. The structure of the soundscape in "Boarded Up!" is based on these Rock N Roll roots with the formation of a gang of carefully selected; learned; and unknown to each other; alien musicians, usually associated with this genre and very accomplished in their given field. This sound genre is normally very structured and rehearsed. In "Boarded Up!" it is deconstructed through the improvised dialogue of the spoken word like a real time conversation; no one knows what will happen "fight or flight" The action is only what the local dialogue allows. Representing a real time conversation between all parties present and contributing to the discussion without the standpoint of preconceived ideals.
