Coma Collage

A network of 20th century novels form the conceptual basis of the collection and the series of abstract allegorical artworks, collages and vignettes attempt to translate visceral ambiguities of the imagination and experiences into abstract two & three dimensional space. Each artwork responds directly to individual and collective themes and scenarios within the novels; exploiting intuitive memory, exploring space, atmosphere, ephemerality, dreams, form & colour. The Diving Bell and the Butterfly; “the few cubic centimeters in your head”, “a forest of umbrellas”, "ravels; balero", “smell of fried potatoes”, “swimming up from the mists of coma”, "butterflys that flutter inside my head", "Celeste", “apart from my left eye, there are two thing that are not paralysed; my imagination and my memory”, "dissolve into the landscape", "butterfly hearing"..
