I am an architect (62); I come from northern Moravia, Czech Republic. Painting and photography is part of my life. My mother showed me the way in art. Many children draw lovely pictures, so did I. But I wanted more; I desired to be a painter. I kept asking my Mother; what should I paint? The painter must know himself – my Mother replied to me. I lived in an old town. The town attracted me; it was a good theme. I had studied architecture in Prague in the seventies - Prague fascinated me; there were avenues full of people and cars and deserted old streets, unknown squares, gallery houses, empty courtyards, shabby buildings and cracked boundary walls. Prague attracted me its variety of forms, varying expressions - the ability to express different moods, feelings. Most of my paintings from this period were rather bleak. Prague in the seventies was eerie, Kafka city full of contradictions. I discovered an unknown Prague off the center; old proletarian quarters of the 19th century; it is a place where time has stood still for a 100 years. In the same way I was attracted to the town of Kutna Hora; there I stayed for one year and painted many pictures. Today I return to modern means of expression, combining classical art techniques (drawing, painting) and computer technology to get entirely new realms of expression of my paintings. I want to capture places which attracted me by their colors, composition, mood of lights and shadows. I want to tell that the world is infinitely amazing and a beautiful place to live.
