About The Artwork
Fresco, acrylic, oil, spray paint, paint marker on canvas over panel. Multi-cultural influences. Color palette created by finding commonalities found in folk art across cultures. For example, a blue found in Japan, Africa and again in another culture informs what blue will be used on the painting. Open source graphs inspired the composition. Thinking is based on communal and neo-tribal ideas. Symbols and patterns garnered from street art to primitives and used as codes in an effort to generate an esperanto of sorts perhaps describing 21st century tendencies.

Alicia LaChance is a full time painter based out of St. Louis, Missouri. She is represented by galleries across the Untied Sates. Recently, her painting, New Village, was reinterpreted as a 27' terrazzo floor public art installation at St. Louis International Airport. This work was also highlighted in the Wall Street Journal. Her paintings were selected by Julie Rodriguez Widholm, the Pamela Alper Associate Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, for the 2011 Midwest edition of New American Paintings. Most recently, she has been commissioned to create original artworks for Roman & Williams for a project at the CAA. The artist is proud to be working with a design team recently ranked by Architectural Digest as one of the top 100 design firms in the world. Her artwork is in collections throughout the US and abroad.
