About The Artwork

This is late afternoon in winter after the kids came in from playing. The low angle of the sun amplifies cast shadows of home, footprints, sled tracks and memories in the snow. The woods beyond "are lovely, dark and deep,..." as Robert Frost would put it. The building blocks of the painting are quite abstract. As I was painting it, I first laid out the major shapes and contrasting areas. These created a very striking abstract image and I almost stopped there. I decided to carry on and added the representational elements which of course brought the painting to another level. Each element of the painting, from the abstract core to the final image contributing not only visually but more important, emotionally. This is professional grade acrylic paint on a wood panel. The painting itself measures 40" x 30", with the dark wood frame it's about 41.5" x 31.5" x 1.5". It is wired and ready to hang. Please look at the images carefully. This is painted very loosely with quick brushstrokes in a painterly manner. About the artist: Stephen Remick was born and raised in Vermont. He resides in a coastal, New England town with his wife, Anne Carrozza Remick, who is also an artist on saatchiart.com. Steve's paintings are in private collections all over the U.S. and abroad.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I'm painting my back yard and the world beyond. Familiar, everyday sights that may only get a peripheral, passing glimpse. In-the-moment scenes… a yard sale, a backyard tree house, or a new house foundation under construction and filled with potential. Signs of prior lives… a centuries old, crumbling foundation who's long gone owner held that same potential as today’s builder, a cemetery reclaimed by the woods. Trying to guide the viewer to think in a deeper way, to realize our connection to each other, our environment, our past, and our future. Also re-connecting with an abstract, color-field series from the early 2000's, with inspiration drawn from land and sky and the abstract expressionist movement. In between all that, plein air painting when I can. Nothing beats painting from life. Born and raised in Vermont, currently living in Massachusetts.
