My wife wonders why there is such a black thing in the pool. But my children increase the viewer statistics to 50%. “That’s the rabbit in rest by Cosima von Bonin mama”. Yes we were in Vienna (Wien) in the Mumok and I took a hidden photo of it. Cosima is a good example for deterministic art categories. The “new” and the “authentic” of her is that she brings plush animals - very accessible - into a museum of modern art. She gave up her previous ingeniously work as a concept artist. The “old” is, that she is a permanent part of the cologne art scene, the most important art scene in Germany after Berlin and Duesseldorf. Her new work is very successful especially in Asia and russia. How can I paint her? Where can her rabbit take a “rest”? I took her “rabbit in rest” and put him into a pool. Its not just any pool. It’s the pool of Gianni Agnelli (CEO Fiat). Agnelli is her typical audience in the moment – rich, dead (his foundation is buying the artworks today) and not really art crazy. Those people buy art as an investment. On the right side in front and at the backside of the pool, near the dark forest, the water is flowing over the edge. In the foreground the water is flowing on a sunny yellow grass – a symbol of a lighthearted playground. In the background the water is flowing into the dark forest. We all know – since snowwhite and the huntsman – what is waiting there. A couple has placed their deck chairs near the edge of the wood. That was not good idea, the deck chairs are empty. But in the moment the rabbit rests negating gravitiy on the water of this pool. Only his ears and arms immerse into the coolness. A drown does not address his hairstyle he’s thinking. Cosima is hot. www,eckhard-besuden.de

Besuden is painting antideterministic art. For the first time at the beginning of the new century (2005) in London the question is raised, whether deterministic attributes of modern painting (new, authentic, antidecorative, scandalous) must be fundamentally reconsidered. In 2009 the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung published a report about the Transition Gallery in London, and their new appreciation of art under the heading: 'we need more dilettantes'. In this case the scandal is not intended to create a better saleability. Art musnt be no longer new, authentic, anti-decorative to be serious art. The anti-deterministic artist is allowed to paint old, anti-authentic, decorative but in a new dogmatical style. With every peace of art, corresponding with the above mentioned characteristics, the artists turns against the dictate of the ruling dogmatics. He is pursuing art policy by intentionally ignoring the quality requirements of the first art market and thus he regains absolute artistic freedom. www.eckhard-besuden.de
