About The Artwork
This is a winter scene of an ancient, wooded area nearby the Port of Menteith, Scotland where I used to live. This lonely road runs alongside the Lake of Menteith. I was inspired to paint this scene by the wonderful light in the sky, which was full of snow just waiting to fall, and the softness of the frosted grasses - and because winter trees are my favourite subject. My aim was to convey the cold beauty of the scene.
