Franz Liszt (October 22, 1811 – July 31, 1886).
I had heard, on a TV programme, that he said that when he composed he experienced a "deep silence of the heart"; the meditative silence that many artists experience; I painted this.
In attempting to research this quotation, I could only find this; "I carry with me a deep sadness of the heart which must now and then break out in sound"
It's still a beautiful quotation.
