Girl with iPhone. This painting is measuring some cultural changes since 1963 when the original painting by Thiebaud was exhibited. Girl with Ice Cream Cone. Here it is faithfully and adoringly repainted but updated. She now has an iPhone, is she taking a photo of herself in an unseen mirror or perhaps taking a photo of someone else? She has relocated from the beach to the bedroom and is wearing modern underwear with the straps provocatively loose. She is not a posing,19 year old model but could be someone anyone might know and so oozes even more sexuality as a consequence. Sly is a Popart artist exhibiting in mainly spray stencils and oils. He has exhibited at the Saatchi (a proper gallery with pillars and everything!) alongside the likes of Banksy, Terry O'Neil, Tracy Emin and Vic Reeves and now has a permanent collections at the Cut-Up in Germany and Outside the Square opposite the Tate alongside Damian Hirst and some other artists you might of heard of plus other galleries around the globe.
