About The Artwork
Penmon lighthouse is a cylindrical 29m stone tower built by James walker. It looks fabulous in all weather scenes, from stormy, calm, sunrise to sunset it is a very popular site for capturing scenes that embody the beauty of the North Wales coast hence my reason for painting it. It has a striking and formidable presence when drenched, unabashed by the tempest storms that surge and swirl throughout the seasons. I hope that I have captured some of its storm laden nature by painting it in oil, as it allows for a translucent atmosphere when painting in layers.
