Puddles and Roses Painting

My works feature an emotional translation through the use of bold movement, harmony, and cool atmospheric colors. I express figures and subjects caught in a moment in order to bring you a snapshot of spontaneous expression that tells a story. A story born in my heart and mind that matures with each stroke of my brush into a complete expression of my love for the work. I am comfortable exploring all sides of my subject, and imbuing the composition with subtle hints of unexplored intensity. Capturing the mood with light and atmospheric color, I transmit the deeper emotion contained in the subject, something which can be felt, something alluringly dark yet beautiful. Careful study of the way light alters everything it touches brings focus to the splendid negligence of the material while deliberate textures and abstraction complete each masterwork with the fine detail of realism and beauty. The female figure is most often the central subject of my work because I feel an intense melancholy beauty is best expressed in the female form and figure. A primal sense best augmented with grace, harmony, and strength through the augmentation of pose, setting, expression, and atmosphere. My work also explores still life, cityscapes, wildlife, abstract, and other experimental styles. My surroundings figure prominently in much of my work, and many of my paintings are inspired by my real life experiences. I have a particular affection for the streets of San Francisco, unique places in the world, nature, and still life. My style combines abstract elements with realism, drawing attention to the feelings of life as seen through my eyes trying to find beauty where no one else had though to look. I use acrylic paints and mediums to achieve the effect of layers, vibrant color, and high energy. Greater control over the way color mixes with acrylic is an essential part of my process. I also enjoy working with charcoal and pastels, and I have a great passion for sculpting which I hope to explore when my sculpting studio is complete.
