Unframed acrylic painting of a ragged red poppy. Painted after my second visit to the extraordinary 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red' installation at the Tower of London. It's just a flower, but for me it is also about love, loss, rebirth and perennial, albeit a bit ragged, hope.

I am interested in the tension between light and shade, movement and stillness, finding the balance between disparate elements and looking through one surface to spaces beyond. I love colour but I also love the drama of white and black or indigo.
