About The Artwork

Watercolor on French Arches Watercolor Rough(300 gsm) The inspiration comes from my experiences in the last a few years when I spent some time in China for researching, and witnessed so many old buildings, even the historic buildings in residential area have been dismantled for the new developments. This scene is about what is to be happened in Beijing Hutong (Alley). The Chinese character on the wall it means Demolition!

Grace Huang is a Melbourne - based contemporary artist. She was born in Guangzhou, China, where she studied at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts and Art education. She moved to Australia in 1988. She spent full time in her professional artistic adventures and development since 2003. From 2006 to 2008 and 2011, she has spent some time in China each year researching ancient Chinese painting and contemporary art. Painting to her is a way for her to express her thoughts and emotions, her creative idea comes from the ordinary life that can be attracted to her with senses, she is interested in exploring the depth of meaning behind the scene. For some of her recent artworks, she was interested in focusing on humane care and the issues being ignored by the social reality around, she has thought that in a way it’s exploring our world from a different point of view. She has expressed her paintings in a realistic style, but the creative theme which included conceptual ideas, and unique compositions were contemporary, she has been adventured and developing a new way for exploring art today. She aims to deliver her creative ideas and hope to see the viewers get involved and inspired from their imaginations, she enjoys the creative process of transferring thoughts onto a painting and being able to transmit that to other people, and fascinating to see the viewers looking at the artworks and hearing their different points of view, that way keeps her very fulfilling. She was a multiple awards winner when she has involved in the art competitions, she has won The Best Landscape in The Mortimore Art Prize in NSW, Australia (2013); and has won The Best Urban Landscape in Camberwell Art Show in Melbourne, Australia (2012), and has won the High Commendations in The Fleurieu Food & Wine Art Prize, Fleurieu Biennale in South Australia (2011). She was a multiple selected finalist in the Hawkesbury Art Prize in NSW, Australia (2013 & 2012); in the Muswellbrook Art Prize, in NSW, Australia (2013); in the Redland Art Award in QLD, Australia (2012 & 2008); in the Norvill Art Prize, in NSW, Australia (2010); in MacarthurCook Art Award, in Melbourne, Australia (2008); and in the John Leslie Art Prize, in Victoria, Australia (2004). She has won many awards, which included the Victor Harbour Exhibition Open Section Award, in South Australia (2002) and in the Herald Sun Camberwell Art Award, in Melbourne, Australia (2001).
