Jody lives in Silver Lake, Los Angeles with his wife and 2 cats. He's been painting for years, and is now showcasing his work in the Los Angeles area.
Jody's work incorporates both the intangible and tangible. He uses his subconscious and conscious together to create abstract surreal images that express common, human emotions using bold color. To describe his work, it has the enigmatic, nostalgic symbolism of Dali, the line of Miro, the space of Matta, and the form of Tanguy, which is painted with the expressive brush of Gorky. A yin and yang technique he calls 'Trip and Drip'. While painting, he pauses regularly to meditate while he works. The canvas becomes a window of infinite space and time. During this meditation, the artist strives for pure radiance of blissful energy, beauty enjoying itself unboundedly. He only controls so much of what is going on through detailing, by letting the brush speak to him. In the end, a hallucination unfolds on the canvas. Most of his paintings are conceived through his doodling, which become the endoskeletons of his paintings. The work is then fleshed with paint or some other medium. Ironically, his work seems more related to mother nature than the nature of mind.
