Short-listed for the John Moores Painting Prize 2012 Twilight serves as a liminal time, between day and night - where one is 'in the twilight zone, in a liminal nether region of the night'. The middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition. We don't belong to our parents, we belong to our ancestors, who walked these paths.

My practice aims to establish an understanding of how recalled imagined possibilities of childhood embed themselves in a sense-of-place. Of how visual codes and conventions in describing the sense of place, reveal a landscape as a repository of memory. This work goes to the heart of recent debates about ‘true’ and ‘false’ memories, fictional accounts of auto-biography and in the psycho-geographical interpretations of the environment (and in particular the Liminal).
