About The Artwork

The 'Moon' series came about as a result of the suicide of one of Guy Noble's closest friends... "In 2007 one of my closest friends hanged himself in his studio – I found him about 20 Minutes after he had done it. It was one of the most extraordinary events of my life and yet in some peculiar way just another event like tripping over or any other ordinary part of my life. Unlike tripping over I couldn’t go back into the studio and just pick up where I left off the day before. For weeks I looked for a subject that seemed true and right. One night I looked up and there was the moon; completely ordinary yet totally extraordinary. Something we all have a relationship with yet nobody owns.” These paintings and drawings explore the way memory interferes with perception.

If you would like to order any prints please contact me directly it will be great to hear from you....guy@guynoble.com In October 2017 Thames and Hudson in the UK and Prestel in the USA will be publishing Drawing Masterclass - by Guy Noble. "Gorgeously illustrated and practical, this guide to the art of drawing employs a close analysis of great works to reveal techniques and lessons that will help practitioners at every level. The art of drawing is an essential skill for any artist. This beautifully produced book uses 100 great works on paper as its lessons. Each spread features a reproduction of one work, and offers invaluable lessons about the approaches and techniques the artist used. Organized into chapters on nudes, figures, landscapes, still life, heads, fantasy, and abstraction, the book breaks down the featured works in different ways. For instance it explores how differences in tone and shadow bring life to a standing figure and how many different weights of line can be achieved with one crayon. In addition, readers can learn from the artist's own words in quotations drawn from interviews and archival materials. There is no better way to learn a skill than from the masters. Beginning and experienced artists can learn from masters as diverse as Kandinsky, Rubens, Monet, da Vinci, Basquiat, Beckman, and Miro, while professionals in the field will find great value in side-by-side comparisons of works from different genres and eras." This book will be available on Amazon and all other outlets for preorder - you can get more details on my website. Thanks for taking an interest in my work
