About The Artwork

The painting series is an exploration in geometric abstraction. The principle elements studied being formal geometric volumes carefully placed in a spatial field. Colour, texture, light & shade enhance the experience of these forms strewn in space. The central concern of the series being to arrive at complex but balanced compositions, thus attempting to bring order to chaos. The painting series titled "Platonic indulgence" itself represents the irony of the need to replace the simple perfection of the platonic solids revered by the modernists with a more complex visual system which reflects the chaotic vibrancy of our post modern condition. The medium used is acrylic on canvas as the medium lends itself to a colourful and crisp geometric style. The artist's background as an architect explains his passion for geometric forms and he would like his audience to appreciate the imaginative and artistic possibilities of non-figurative art.

I am from India ,currently working as an architect and based in Bangalore. My background as an architect has given me the basic training in Principles of visual art, art history and art theory and exposure to various styles and art movements. I am fascinated by the modern art movement and its offshoots and have been influenced especially by the tradition of geometric abstraction explored in the works of Kazimir Malevich ,Piet Mondrian, Frank Stella and more recently by Sarah Morris etc., just to name a few. I have been exploring and painting abstract art for the past fifteen years and have been exploring the basic visual elements of form, shape and colour with an aim to create exciting but balanced compositions. Currently I am exploring several ideas for conceptual art & installations ,for a future show.
