A backwater of Venice with high water and washing. Tourist seldom venture to the back canals of Venice, where the authentic culture remains. I have drawn the giant windows expressionistically to evoke the sense of age and the magical history of the old town. The washing shows the dwelling of ordinary people away from the tourists and the light on the centre building creates the haunted atmosphere of age, a counterpart to the whistling echoes that fly up from the canals.
