About The Artwork
Crucifix Triptych - Three 84"H x 24"W x 2"D panels - Ships rolled - not stretched Inspiration: “Crucifix Triptych” was done in homage to the Renaissance period. Da Vinci, Raphael and Bosch were all great influences in my early work. Although I’ve drawn from their technique as an illustrator, my decision here was to paint a common Renaissance subject as abstract. Series: Dark Mind - Sometimes my expressive nature gets the better of me. I'm generally a smiley guy, but with a dark spot not so far from the surface.

Traditionally trained and a surrealist at heart, I paint from concepts, dreams and the constant stream of imagery that flows through my consciousness. I avoid figurative subjects unless they play a requisite role in a concept. I find abstract work a much more direct expression of intimate emotions and sensations, as well as a better conduit to convey them to others. Whether it be triumph or desperation, tranquility or risk, visual context and provoked feelings are left to the interpretation of the viewer.
