About The Artwork

“In New York, at the corner of 21st and 7th, one night, around midnight, he crossed him. He suddenly felt in his heart that he knew him from the past. A few days later, in a coffee shop, he recognized him at once. That juvenile face, that tender smile and a dark silky hair, from an Italian origin for sure. No words exchanged, no way to get closer. A few months later, back in Paris, he bought a large black and white poster of New York seen from above. Around midnight, almost every night, in the dark, on the wood floor of his bedroom, with no clothes, he was lying in front of the poster. Like he used to do when he was a kid, he was dreaming flying over the city and getting down smoothly in that street where they met. With no doubt, that deep warm feeling had a name : love. His solitude was full of him. His whole body was sure of that, around midnight.” SLB Loeber-Bottero limited edition of 4, from the "Night Portraits" series. The “Around Midnight, Little Stories Part 2” is composed of 9 black and white photographs which can be bought all together or separately. The photograph is printed on high quality paper, with the personal control of the photographer; a certificate of authenticity is attached with the photograph.

Art photographer. Born in Cannes, lived in France and the United States. Lives in Paris and Venice. ~ Biographical landmarks : Since his introduction to photography, Loeber-Bottero has made a study of the timeless mass of architecture and the ephemeral delicacy of light. His artistic vision and photographic approach matured over the course of his travels, which included a two-year stay in the United States. Thanks to the advice of French artists, and after fifteen years of deepening and accumulation of photographs, he decided in 2001 to share his work in public. Starting in 1988, Venice, Italy became a city and subject of choice : the junction of personal destiny and one of the most spectacular expressions of mankinds creation and beautys victory. Since then, Loeber-Bottero started at one time series of photographs in Venice refering to spiritual, natural, night. Important exhibitions took place in France between 2001 and 2009, including a first series on Venice-Nocturnes in the prestigious Parisian gallery Bernheim-Jeune. Since 1999, Loeber-Bottero continues to build black-and-white series on the human body and portrait. Since 2001, he works also on series inspired by California, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New-York, Las Vegas, Montreal, cities in Europe (Paris, Cannes, London, Oslo, Berlin, Florence, Siena, Barcelona, Amsterdam,...), the Mediterranean, car design and motor bikes. Original gelatin silver black and white hand-printings, signed and restricted to 3 or to 4, are proposed for collectors. ~ Loeber-Bottero's books are available on Amazon. ~ Statement for Loeber-Bottero's "Venice Nocturnes" series : Night in Venice : an inner journey. Photographic explorations, over twelve years, of the enigmatic and secret face of night in Venice. Venice, in the night, is a voyage of discovery, untroubled by the city’s labyrinthine plan and its dizzying dearth of points of reference, a journey that opens our minds and hearts and sharpens our wits and curiosity. Rich in surprises both large and small, it is a journey that also entices you on and on, ever further until you are utterly lost – for although in reality everything is so close at hand, in Venice distances are deceptive and perspectives disguised. But in this unique spot, any uneasiness or concern that we may feel rises from within us.
