I'm a fine art and commercial photographer living in Utah. Here at Saatchi Online, I will be featuring my fine art photographic work. This work draws inspiration mostly from modern and post-modern painters, although I was first introduced to abstract photography through the work of Andre Kertesz and Brett Weston. My abstracts are mostly reflective and refractive distortions set up in the studio or are "found" abstracts of everyday objects shot with emphasis on pattern and texture and little or no emphasis on the object itself. Photoshop is used only for spot cleaning and tonal adjustments and never for radical modification or distortion of the image. Although the results are often similar to abstract paintings, the process of abstraction in photography stems more from observation and contemplation than an internal synthesis - an affirmation of (rather than a projection of) one's state of mind. I hope you will enjoy them.
