About Alaina Suga Lane Williams Originally from Orlando, Florida, Alaina Williams aka Suga Lane spent most of her life from her teen years on, n Georgia. She was classically trained in piano and dance in her youth, which influenced her desire to create motion and sound within her paintings. As the head curator for Abby Essie, the vintage furnishings and clothing firm, she resells antiques and collectibles, sometimes re-designing and painting pieces. She is also the designer for Suga Lane Designs, an original fashion and decor company, creating new textiles, clothing, and accessories. Suga's creative expression has been both fueled and expanded forward by entrepreneurship. She believes you are at your best when your work can merge with your creativity. Of course, she explains, to have that as an option is a dream few may realize, so she is definitely living her dream. Suga says, "I strive to surprise myself and others leading to excuses to smile. When I paint, I usually like to begin my process with a color that mirrors the feelings I want to express. After applying color, I seek movement then the theme or focus of the painting may reveal itself. Mixing acrylics, enamels, oils and other mediums provides a layer of interest that is unbounded. Merging original painting and photography with digital design has become my favorite process of creative expression. Digital graphics expand the possibilities, opening up a whole galaxy for the one lone painting or photo. Applying graphics to textiles, such as wallpaper, fabric, furniture, and clothing, further expands my design's reach where more people can enjoy. My luxury bag collection, which has been in the works for several years has come to fruition this year and it's a form of expression allowing art into the every day personal space. One carries a bag everywhere, so whether a girl or guy is at work, on the train, or sitting at dinner, art is beside them to provide immediate gratification. One doesn't have to wait to go home and look up on the wall with fashion art.?" "Re-purposing and up-cycling has infiltrated my life. I'm a curator of a designer and vintage clothing & decor store, so often times upcycled materials become a catalyst to my designs. I hate wasting anything, whether paper, paint, fabric, whatever. When making collages or painting, I usually have no idea what I'm going to come up with. I let it form organically.
