As a child I always loved to draw. I became passionate about art at school and even had one of my pieces sent to be exhibited in China. I continued to study art to A level specialising in Graphics. My training for a career as a Histologist utilised my drawing skills. I produced detailed histological preparations and drawings on a micro and macroscopic level. In subsequent careers as a Montessori Teacher and Sure Start Manager, my artistic skills were used but to a lesser degree. I felt I needed to embrace my artistic roots and I embarked on a graphic design course at Central St Martins. The course rekindled my passion for art and pushed me to pursue my dreams. I decided to change my career to use visual techniques to communicate with images and become an Artist and Illustrator. My art work consists of; collagraph, intaglio and relief printing, etching, mixed media, acrylic and oil painting, but I specialise in drawing and collage. I gained invaluable artistic skills and knowledge by completing a BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Waltham Forest College and later went on to study 3D illustration at Central St Martins. These courses have been a life changing opportunity and gave me the tools to create the kind of art I have always envisioned. Other accomplishments include having one of my art pieces submitted for the 2011 art exhibition "˜Respect For Our Environment' campaign launched at Sainsbury's Walthamstow' . I have also exhibited work on the E17 Art Trail and have had art pieces featured in the Waltham Forest Guardian. email: aliciadeanartworks@yahoo.com
