About The Artwork
“Butterfly Angel” was commissioned by a Chicago doctor for his late mother as a tribute to her because she loved butterflies and angels! It was placed at a cemetery in Kentucky, but since then, “Butterfly Angel” has become one of Geckler’s most popular creations! It is made of cast bronze and has a brown patina and highlighted areas. The solid polished 10.5" x 10.5" x 3" thick black granite base is included with purchase. The overall height of sculpture and base is 37"

About Karl Geckler Karl Geckler is an architect and sculptor based in Chicago, IL Karl graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, Virginia and has worked for the architectural firms SOM, GREC Architects and Taller de Arquitectura, as well as maintaining a private architectural practice. He studied stone carving in Pietrasanta, Italy and tool and die/welding in Chicago. His passion is the art of stone carving and he has taught hundreds of students this craft. He is currently focused on sculpture and furniture designs.
