About The Artwork

Tomoko Kato: 'Heart in the City', 2013, 3-dimensional Japanese Paper Art, with different special papers, each 356 gr / m², also free-floating elements and characters from paper, this is a unique piece, handsigned by the artist. 'Heart in the City" belongs to the "paper-arts" of the Japanese artist Tomoko Kato. She creates unique art-objects that have a very seductive, spatial effect. These small, self-contained worlds of art are products of a three-dimensional technology. The artist creates effects of depth that feature fascinating interior worlds guarded by double-wing-gates. The pictorial language - influenced by a Japanese point of view – surprises because of its figurative elements, suggesting intimate pictures and scenes which are defamiliarized surrealistically.
