About David James Searle
Born 1962, Reading, Berkshire UK. I have always been very imaginative and began creating art with a passion in my early 20s. I have no formal art education - just a profound interest in art.
My Art is colourful, fun and pleasing to the eye. I design mainly Digital artworks with an abstract style but also create friendly cartoon characters such as my 'SQUEEZY' alien. I like to do several versions of each artwork, enabling collectors to find preferred colour options.
My obsession with colour was originally inspired by some pencils I owned as a child - they had a different colour on each end like two pencils joined together. I loved the array of different colour combinations. Much of my art reflects the joy I gained from looking at those pencils, particularly the basic two coloured images in my Digital POP series.
As you can see, my Art is coming very much from my Inner Child - the innocent, fun-loving part of my psyche. I want my art to be visually pleasing make people happy and go WOW...
I also create artworks based on photographs I have taken. These are mainly Landscapes and Seascapes which I have digitally edited to create a more Cartoony or Abstract image. I am creating rather than reporting. I have little interest in taking accurate representations of places, prefering to turn them mystical, mythical, psychedelic or wallpapery.
