Dawid Janka

Dawid Janka is a Polish visual artist based in Bytów, Poland. His practice focuses primarily on drawing and explores dark realism, surrealism, historical imagery and dark fantasy. Through detailed figurative works, dramatic contrasts and imagined environments, he creates mysterious worlds shaped by history, literature and the darker aspects of human imagination.
Janka's artistic practice began at an early age and developed through drawing, wood sculpture and independent study. As a teenager, his work received awards and distinctions in art competitions, including recognition in sculpture at a regional competition of Kashubian artistic traditions. In 2016, at the age of seventeen, his developing artistic practice was featured in the local press.
His current body of work includes The Court of Blood, a sixteen-piece drawing series inspired by historical atmosphere, medieval architecture, dark fantasy and imagined characters. Rather than recreating specific historical events, the series constructs an original fictional world through symbolism, mystery and imagination.

Self-taught artist. Independent studies in drawing, painting, visual storytelling and artistic anatomy through specialized art courses and continuous practice. Currently preparing for secondary-school leaving examinations, with the goal of pursuing higher education in fine arts.

2016 — Featured in Kurier Bytowski in an article presenting my early work in drawing and wood sculpture.
