Traditionally the beauty of the human body is related to life, to thehumanity itself. This is why we feel disgusted when looking at a dead body. What disgusts us is not the corpse itself, but the lack of life in it. The lack of subjectivity and of the meanings we naturally expect to find in the human body.
In my works I emhasize purely aesthetical aspect of thebody: devoid of any non-biological attributes, connotations and culturalcontexts which are traditionally related to the human body and which makethe body become the human being, therefore something more than it basicallyis.
By making the corpse (and not the human being) subject of my worksI turn it into a piece of art, which gives to the abstracted body a newmeaning, the subjectivity. If what disgusts us is not the corpse but the lack of some exogenous attributes, then this aesthetical approach is the way to overcome the disgust.
