About Tina Ashton
I was born in Caerphilly, in South Wales in 1961. After a long career in aviation, then administration (and many happy years of bringing up my two lovely boys!)I returned to full time education to study art & design. When I started to paint again it was a very emotional personal discovery for me and I hope this creative journey will be a long one! Painting & creating fills me with joy and when people express their own joy in viewing my work it doubles, no TRIPLES, my pleasure!!
I enjoy working in Acrylics mostly, and my paintings are often graphic, bold and very colourful. I enjoy modern portraiture and abstract work in particular, and have also enjoyed creating many pieces on the theme of love & romance.
My recent collection of semi-abstract paintings are inspired by my love of stained glass windows and particularly the work of Louis Tiffany. I admire his strong use of colours. I love all things with an art nouveau influence, the soft swirling shapes can often be found in my work.
I have a National Diploma in Art & Design, and an A Level in Fine Art.
I exhibit regularly across the UK and my work has sold to private collectors across the UK, Europe, USA and the Far East. In 2007 I had two further solo exhibitions.,
