Christine Webb

Born in Sydney 1954 and now resident in Italy, Christine's current work captures personal spaces and the internal atmospheres of the domestic scene adjacent to the Italian urban environment. Her passage to the light puts frame within frame, connected isolation and perceptions of the real with social, symbolic and seasonal overtones.Christine's works interrogate the picture plane, creating spatial depth juxtaposed with flat fields, plays of light, colour, realism and abstraction.

Sydney college of the Arts, Christine has been working in the visual medium as art director and publisher of Stiletto Magazine (Sydney, 1981-89), and freelance photographer. She teaches and practices her painting full time.
