David Lunt

I am a Cheshire based artist working out of Bankley Studios in Levenshulme,Manchester. I studied BA Fine Art at Loughborough University 1997-2000 and returned to complete an MA Art and Design Studio Practice 2004-05. I have exhibited work in a number of recognised institutions notably FACT (Liverpool) Cornerhouse (now HOME Manchester), The Portico Library (Manchester) and The Harris Museum (Preston) and in 2017 was shortlisted for the ‘Greater Manchester Art Prize’. More recently I have exhibited drawings and paintings with London based astronomy collective ‘Lumen’ and have had animated works selected for ‘ArtGene’ Extreme Views part 2 commissions programme (online from February 2020) and University of Mary Washington, Fredricksburg (US) Media Wall Autumn program 2019.
For a number of years my practice has explored the fine line that separates science fact from science fiction. Incorporating 2d traditional pieces with digital sculpture and animation, my work focuses on a number of subjects including cartography, astronomy, geology, exploration and the future of human survival.
