Holly Piper

I'm interested in human anatomy & psychology in how the abnormal state of mind can interfere with reality as symptoms contained such as delusions, hallucinations & even beliefs can create a division from the outside world. Using figurative perspectives, mainly portraits I showcase the journey & battle the psychotic character has to endure. The portrait is the basis of my artwork; the human structure is like my canvas I record the process of destructive thoughts, which the psychotic character contains by morphing the characteristics & deducting the human structure to show how powerful the mind is in the sense of control over ones self &how it effects one negatively. In my paintings the emotions take control of the portrait & re-invents it by working into the flesh capturing the intense emotions equalling to the loss of character as the emotions run riot & captures the essence of transformation. My work showcases the battle between reality & mind.
