Iker Garcia Barrenetxea

Iker Garcia Barrenetxea is a full time painter living and working in San Sebastian where he has his atelier.

In June Gordailua (Provincial Government of Gipuzkoa´s Heritage Collection Centre) has bought a selection of works for the Art Public Collection. His work is distributed in Spain, Denmark Germany, Switzerland, France, Canada, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, where he lived for 17 years and directed The Vyner Studio Artist Run Space (2010-2015). Focus Art Fair presents his work in France for the first time.

His works express the human being as an individual and as an active part of a society, moreover, a society that is made of many individuals. With the Soul Shelters Head Paintings (2019) he wrote: `Our eyes are witnesses of what we see outside of us and reveal what we feel inside of us´ and ´The face is like a coating that mutates according to experience`. He is interested in the concept of transformation that happens as a result of experience, both in people and places, and expressing the above through art, experimenting with different media.
