Pamella Branch

Born in Toronto, educated at Sheridan College and the Ontario College of Art & Design, my pursuit began as a graphic artist and art director with design firms and advertising agencies. Today, I work as a communications designer and will eventually turn to painting full-time.

In 2004, Willi Wildman, a well-known local artist and instructor, introduced me to oil painting and the local art scene. My work has been represented in Purple Hills Studio Tours,Creemore,Ontario, The Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts Studio Tour, various galleries including The Gladstone Hotel in Toronto; Terase Art &
Home, FAD Peaks & Rafters and the L.E. Shore Memorial Library, Thornbury Ontario, Canada.
My canvases depict the untamed, unmatched spirit of water, undiluted colours or high-contrast monochromes. Oil used with bold intensity give the compositions movement, emotion and impact, generating within the viewer, a palpable physical and emotional intimacy with each painting. The love I have for the subject is evident in the personality and spirit of the land I paint. Sometimes my view is only accessible from the water. This bold and energetic style has developed from the earlier influences of Tom Thomson.
