Michael Waitz

In his almost middle-sized paintings Michael Waitz is working around different aspects of our reality. He figures out a less surrealistic, more hyper-realistic world with its aspects of absurdity and grotesque.
Born 1964 in Coburg, Franconia, he completed his studies on painting and graphics at University of Arts Berlin with a high master degree as a pupil of well known Prof. Klaus Fußmann in 1996.
After a period as an assistant teacher at Art Academy Dresden, Michael Waitz is working as a free artist since 1997.
The work is overwhelming influenced by some stays, living time and projects in African countrys like Tansania and Mali during all the recent years.
At his home base Berlin, Michael Waitz is frequently on the way to assemble the views on reality he has found by thinking different.
