Abel Saucedo is an El Paso, TX native, who lives in one of safest cities in the country. Ironic enough, the environment in which he lives, is also home to the newly erected border fence which separates El Paso's sister city: CD Juarez. Infamous for its ongoing drug related violence and brutality. Both cities make up the largest bi-national metropolitan area in the world. Saucedo's work depicts everyday situations from his communal dichotomy. He continually, soundly and as a responsibility uses his artwork for social, cultural and political commentary. Saucedo’s work for the past ten years has been a response to the environment in which he lives. Most currently working on a series titled “Tunnel Runners” which focuses on the extreme vetting on immigration policy of current political times. Saucedo’s primary discipline is painting, but to conceptualize ideas uses a variety of materials to accomplish the desired aesthetic of each individual piece
