Maureen Riesco

After a 30-year career working in the science and engineering world, Maureen Riesco is transitioning to working as a full-time freelance artist. She lives in Denver, Colorado and has been painting, selling and exhibiting her work since 2010. Her creative work, primary done in oils, is described as “contemporary realism” and is known for its engaging and vibrant colors. Her primary focus, although she enjoys painting a variety of subjects, is portrait and figurative painting. She finds great satisfaction in sculpting the human form using a canvas oiling technique. Since storytelling is a crucial part of the art-making process, her subjects and compositions often evoke strong images or feelings.

Maureen is primarily self-taught, but has taken several drawing and oil painting college courses and workshops throughout her life. She has received numerous awards and is represented by various Colorado art galleries, including Creative Framing Gallery in Louisville and Gallery 1505 in Denver. She is a member of Colorado's Louisville Art Association (LAA), the Louisville Arts District (LAD) and the North Boulder(NoBo) Arts District.
