Markus Simon is a self taught painter based in Berlin,Germany.
painting for over 20 years, he developed his own style which has been inspired of danish painter Oluf Høst in the beginning. of course there has been al lot of other inspriation, such as Per Kirkeby, Emil Schumacher, Joseph Beuys and so on.
the abstract paintings range between pastel light-heartedness and darker atmospheres.
his intuitive painting process resembles an intimate conversation on paper or canvas.
"inspiration doesn’t matter", he says, "it’s just about working."
"as everything is an invention and we only have ideas about our surrounding, it is important to work on your own idea, to be conscious of that work to do.
this is art."
art for him is about living...to find a space, to create a space for living...it is a spiritual and practical path.
"as an artist, i do not only create something visible. there is always a hidden content as well."
