Steve Andras

I started drawing at an early age - Went to Westport High School in Westport MA. My art teacher Bob Rayno had a very positive influence on me. At age 14 I was trained to etch Scrimshaw ( etching on ivory and fossilized ivory) and for 15 years I made my living scratching for a living. Started a Waterproofing Company when I was 27 years old - Scrimshaw was very stressful with deadlines and needing to fill special orders for gift shops, jewelry stores and Art galleries from Alaska to St John VI - I said to myself “I would return to painting when I didn’t need to sell a painting in order to support my family.” Over the next 35 years the only time I got to draw and paint was when my wife and I would go on vacations to St John, USVI.

Today I am happy to say I am pursuing my passion and painting is fun once again. I love to paint Caribbean landscapes and seascapes.
