Art is a prism between me and the world. I get to know the facets of a man and his place in existence through painting.

Working on the nude I study aspects of the female images’ formation. With great interest I observe the qualities appearing at the moment when the model is without the clothes on. It is just the same as losing any kind of protection. I display not so much the body on canvases, but the leading emotion I feel from the person. I am looking for the reflection of myself observing the images. I am living through new aspects of women's conditions. Knowing the self-sufficient and unique microcosms I contemplate the place of a woman in the modern world, on the social environment influence, and the power of female archetypes.

Sofia Akimova was born on November 29, 1988.
In 2011 she graduated from Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Industrial and Applied Arts on the art critic specialty studying painting and drawing as well.
From 2011 to 2015, Sofia created projects for residential and public interiors; in 2013 worked as a teacher of art history at the International Academy of Business and Management.
Since 2015, painting has become the main activity. The works of the artist show images of modern women in exploring the corporeal self and the emotional message of its characters through their nudity.
