Susan Russo

My work is a hybrid of sculpture and painting. Sculpturally it morphed from solid wood to hollow form constructed as a guitar or violin is. The painting morphed from large canvasses to hand held wood sculptures to the recent hollow form, in oil.
Influences include early medieval art, primitive art, Philip Taaffe, the colors of Rome, cave paintings, Sol LeWitt.
The form adds history and the image is a delivery system for color.
