Femke Kock

I am Femke Kock — a Dutch artist driven by an obsession with detail, colour and the feeling that a painting can bring into a space.
A few years ago I walked away from a steady career to do the one thing I couldn't stop doing. No safety net. Just paint, canvas and the belief that art has the power to transform the way a space — and a person — feels.
My work lives in two worlds. Lush, layered flower fields bursting with hidden life — bees, birds, butterflies — where the longer you look, the more you discover. And expressive portraits, raw and layered, where emotion sits just beneath the surface.
I work intuitively, always in layers. Never planned too far ahead. I follow the feeling until the painting tells me it's done.
Since making that leap, my work has found its way into private collections from Tokyo to Paris and beyond. It has been shown in leading galleries, exhibited at major art fairs, and featured on national television. My interpretation of Girl with a Pearl Earring was displayed at the Mauritshuis in The Hague — one of the highlights of my career so far.
But what moves me most is simpler than any of that. It's the moment someone tells me that my painting changed the way their home feels. That they keep looking at it. That ...
