Peter Westh

As an artist and photographer with over 30 years of experience, I have found that my passion lies in expressing my emotions through art and photography.
Through deep self-reflection and meditation, I have gained a deeper understanding of myself and the world around me. The practices of self-reflection and meditation have had a profound impact on my artistic practice. I strive to embody the idea of living in the present moment in daily life and my art. Creating art is an opportunity to fully immerse me in the present moment and explore the beauty and complexity of the world. I have also experimented with different ways of expressing myself artistically and worked with various media and materials, such as video production, spin painting with acrylic paint, acrylic painting on photography, screen printing on paper, diamond dust printing, and photographic printing on wood. In my life, I have travelled extensively, more recently to the United States, Spain, and Patagonia in Argentina and Chile. I aim to investigate and have a creative process that reflects my inner state, emotions, and visions. I hope to continue to gain a deeper understanding of myself and the world through my art and to share this understanding with others.

Education:
In my formative years from 1983-1989, I was influenced by, renowned and iconic photographers such as Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, Peter Lindbergh, and Helmut Newton. I studied and educated myself in photography and artistic creation, learning to work with darkroom processing and developing film and prints, focusing on using baryta paper. To expand my knowledge and experience, I travelled to the United States, Milan, and Paris, where I studied and worked as a photographer for leading model agencies. During this period, I held positions as both an assistant and a portrait photographer for agencies in Copenhagen, Paris, and Milan. I also began collaborating with various fashion magazines in Denmark and exhibited my abstract paintings in Copenhagen. I created a series of black-and-white art posters of people I photographed in Italy and Copenhagen. They were sold in art galleries in Copenhagen at the time.

2017. "Other World" is a short film created to capture the spirit of horses and create a story about the common bond between man and the horse as a mythical animal. The film was produced over two years and took place in both Spain and the U.S. The goal was an attempt, to communicate with these magnificent animals through natural empathy and subtle gestures rather than through controlling physical commands and words.
